Concrete Cycle
When she was 3 she wore her mother’s heels,
At 4 she watch her momma cooks her meals,
At 5 she tried her momma’s blush,
At 6 always carried a brush,
At 7 She was an honor student
At 8 she was very neat and prudent
At 9 she dreamed about being a vet,
At 10 she stopped wearing barrettes,
At 11 her grades went from B’s to D’s
At 12 her first monthly visit came indeed
At 13, hanging with the wrong crowd playing hookie,
At 14, has a crush on a high school rookie,
At 15, all her friends were loose,
At 16, thoughts of college now were thoughts of parties and booze,
At 17, advice went from her left ear to the right
At 18, no room for consequences, repercussions or contrite,
At 19, instead of learning lessons she was making them,
It’s the cycle of another teen in their ignorance.
