If there was any other choice the Minnesota Lynx weren’t aware of in this afternoon. When they got ready to make the first pick in the WNBA draft, all they saw was Maya Moore.
Though Minnesota has had their troubles, the Associated Press reported that Maya Moore won’t change her focus no matter how much work the Lynx need to be contenders.
Maya Moore said:
"Every year the goal is a championship," she said. "That's what I expect. I go on to every team expecting to win a championship, especially with the amount of talent we have. I don't want to limit to the playoffs, I want to win a championship."For more WNBA draft coverage, check here.
Perhaps it’s her moxy that makes her the winner she is. After all, her resume coming out of college far exceed that of her peers in the WNBA.
The four time all-american was also a member of the women’s golf medal team at the World Championships last October. She’s a two-time national champion and one of college basketballs all-time greats.
Moore knows that she has her work cut out for her, but in a league that is dying for stardom, Moore can bring something other than hardware. She can bring a face to the WNBA. Candice Parker has helped elevate their visibility, but Moore can bring a fire to compete against Parker.
The WNBA needs stars and Moore will be a great chance to make a last stitch effort to be relevant. (Source)
